Gifts in Tribute
Hagley Museum and Library is pleased to offer to our friends and members a memorial and commemorative recognition program. Honor a loved one with a bench or tree placed on Hagley's 235-acre property, or, adopt-a-book in support of library collections. Each memorial or commemorative offering is recognized by Hagley in a variety of ways, including acknowledgement in Hagley's annual report. In addition, benches and trees receive a plaque noting the name of the honoree. Once the bench or tree is in place, we welcome you to gather family and friends at Hagley. Books will have a specially-designed bookplate noting the name of the honoree.
Bench $1,500
Your donation provides for a four-foot wooden bench with a naming plaque. The shorea bench is made from yellow balau, the best species of shorea hardwood for garden furniture. For centuries shorea furniture has proven to be an excellent choice of hardwood as outdoor garden furniture. We will be pleased to discuss with you suggested locations on the property where benches are desired.
Upon receipt of the donation, Hagley will order the bench, the plaque, and schedule installation. This process may take 4-6 weeks.
Tree $1,000
Hagley's historic landscape includes ninety-four species and varieties of trees, many of which are Delaware State champion trees and more than one hundred years old. We will be pleased to discuss with you species of trees and suggested locations on the property and where they will thrive.
Upon receipt of the donation, Hagley will order the tree, the plaque, and schedule planting. This process may take 4-6 weeks, depending on the weather and time of year.
Please contact Jill MacKenzie in the Development Office to discuss how best Hagley may serve your needs, (302) 658-2400, ext. 302, or jmackenzie@hagley.org. All memorial and commemorative donations are tax deductible.
Hagley Library's Adopt-A-Book Program
Books are what connect the generations of humans over thousands of years.
-- Alan Lightman
Would you like to honor a loved one, colleague or associate? Please consider doing so while supporting Hagley's mission to collect, preserve, and interpret the unfolding history of American enterprise. Your gift will enable us to continue to build our world-class library collections and to conserve and make available these treasures for generations to come.
Our Adopt-a-Book is the perfect opportunity to give a commemorative gift for anniversaries, birthdays, retirements, graduations, or holidays. The program is also an appropriate memorial gift to honor the memory of a special person(s) or loved one. It is also a wonderful option for a legacy gift.
An attractive bookplate will be placed inside the front cover of each adopted book indicating the donor and the person honored. The Library will send an acknowledgement letter and a copy of the bookplate to the donor and honoree. We will always honor the wishes of those who prefer to remain anonymous.
